Trump Calls Families of Shot Military Members to White House

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Community members assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the principal of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to support those in need.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
