The top legal official in Texas Ken Paxton is suing the manufacturers of Tylenol, claiming the companies concealed potential risks that the pain reliever posed to children's neurological development.

The lawsuit follows thirty days after Former President Trump advocated an unverified association between consuming Tylenol - alternatively called paracetamol - while pregnant and autism spectrum disorder in children.

Paxton is taking legal action against Johnson & Johnson, which once produced the medication, the only pain reliever recommended for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which currently produces it.

In a official comment, he stated they "misled consumers by making money from discomfort and marketing drugs without regard for the potential hazards."

Kenvue says there is insufficient reliable data linking acetaminophen to autism.

"These corporations deceived for years, knowingly endangering numerous people to boost earnings," the attorney general, from the Republican party, declared.

The company stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the perpetuation of misinformation on the safety of acetaminophen and the likely effects that could have on the well-being of American women and children."

On its website, Kenvue also said it had "consistently assessed the pertinent research and there is lacking reliable evidence that indicates a established connection between consuming acetaminophen and autism."

Groups speaking for doctors and health professionals share this view.

The leading OB-GYN organization has stated paracetamol - the key substance in acetaminophen - is a restricted selection for pregnant women to address pain and elevated temperature, which can present serious health risks if not addressed.

"In over twenty years of studies on the consumption of acetaminophen in gestation, no reliable research has successfully concluded that the use of acetaminophen in any trimester of gestation causes neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the organization said.

This legal action mentions current declarations from the former administration in claiming the medication is potentially dangerous.

In recent weeks, Trump generated worry from health experts when he instructed women during pregnancy to "fight like hell" not to use acetaminophen when unwell.

The US Food and Drug Administration then issued a notice that medical professionals should contemplate reducing the consumption of acetaminophen, while also mentioning that "a causal relationship" between the medication and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been proven.

The Health Department head Robert F Kennedy Jr, who manages the Food and Drug Administration, had pledged in spring to conduct "a massive testing and research effort" that would identify the origin of autism in a limited time.

But authorities cautioned that discovering a sole reason of autism - thought by researchers to be the outcome of a complicated interplay of genetic and external influences - would be difficult.

Autism is a category of permanent neurological difference and disability that influences how individuals perceive and engage with the environment, and is identified using medical professional evaluations.

In his court filing, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is seeking federal office - claims Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "willfully ignored and sought to suppress the research" around paracetamol and autism.

This legal action seeks to make the corporations "remove any promotional materials" that claims acetaminophen is secure for women during pregnancy.

This legal action echoes the complaints of a group of guardians of children with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD who took legal action against the manufacturers of acetaminophen in recently.

The court dismissed the lawsuit, saying investigations from the family's specialists was not conclusive.
