Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Real Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank
Spurs fans who jeered keeper Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be real Tottenham supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the opening six minutes to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th Premier League home loss of 2025.
However the main talking point was Fulham's next score when Vicario gave away the ball far outside his area.
He came out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the sideline.
But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.
Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, some Tottenham fans jeered him.
Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and again at full-time.
A particular of those jeering sessions truly angered Frank.
"I heard some of our supporters apparently booed the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that do that. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with each other going forward."
Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage before Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.
Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I am aware the role Vicario is performing. He is a great squad member, he's a real figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.
"He was deeply involved in what ended up to be the winning goal."
'It is In the Game, I'm a Big Man'
Frank Defended His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match
Italian national team the keeper is in his third campaign with Tottenham.
He stated following the match that he had to accept the criticism.
"That score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It is on us to remain more calm, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor loss and it's hard to accept."
'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Goal Line'
Despite the keeper's error, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on Saturday.
Wilson said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.
10 seconds elapsed between the keeper exiting of his area and the midfielder striking – which was five moments following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the box for ages," Wilson said.
"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest lit up a bit.
"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a bit of additional time. Then it was solely about attempting to make the right contact and get it on target. I had a positive feeling, the moment it left my foot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Go Against You'
Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated coverage, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to continue their home ground woes.
This was their tenth home defeat of the year in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and 2003.
The side still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to play prior to the close of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred since the manager took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.
"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to go against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a place where we have suffered another game. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.
"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can use to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest averages on file in a single season (dating back to 2003-04).
Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He must accept the criticism," the pundit said. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge team with massive anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.
"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
