Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, our country," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."
Springer has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment except for Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
